I hope everyone had a good Halloween. I have too much candy left over but if the Bengals play this weekend like they did last weekend, it will probably all be gone by Sunday night (sigh). I was able to pick up LaGarrette Blount in a league or two and he promptly rushed for 120 yards and 2 scores. I’m hoping he can keep this up for awhile. I also have Calvin Johnson in one league and enjoyed watching him catch 3 touchdowns. But I also picked up Kenny Britt and he got injured and will be out for several weeks so he’ll likely be going back to the waiver wire.

There were several close games last weekend. That Packers/Jets game ended up being 9-0. Did anyone think the game would go like that? Well, if you did, I’m sure you watched a different game because that one had to have sucked. If you’re like me, you enjoy offense. So the Jags/Cowboys game was probably for you. Jon Kitna threw for 379 yards (and 4 INTs cough, cough) and David Garrard threw or ran for 15 touchdowns (ok, it was 5 total but that’s impressive!).

And I got to watch the Redskins game where McNabb was benched for Rex Grossman with the game on the line. Seriously, Rex Grossman? I don’t care how much you’re worried about McNabb’s conditioning (if that was really the case) or whatever the reason was. I would send in McNabb on one leg before I’d put Grossman in there. But I’m sure it worked out for the Redskins right? Oh yeah, Grossman got hit and fumbled on the FIRST play. I couldn’t help but laugh a little bit while I watched. But hey, I needed a good laugh. I had just watched the Bengals lose yet again. You’d need a laugh too.

There really aren’t a lot of new names to mention for pickups. Most of the quarterbacks I mentioned last week are still worth a look. If Favre is going to keep playing, then Tarvaris Jackson might not be worth the pickup. But I’ll try to mention a couple here.

Mike Tolbert (RB, Chargers) – I know I’ve mentioned him before but I’m sure a lot of owners dropped him with Ryan Matthews came back from injury. I decided to hold onto him and even though he’s not running for a ton of yards, he’s getting some touchdowns. He did lead the team with 63 yards rushing last week though. So if you need a flex spot, he’s worth a look.

Brandon Gibson (WR, Rams) – Sam Bradford is looking more impressive all the time, especially with a lack of a big-time receiver. Danny Amendola has already been mentioned here but Bradford is throwing to Gibson just as much and Gibson just led the team with 6 catches and 67 yards. No touchdown but Bradford seems to be spreading the ball around.

Nate Washington (WR, Titans) – Kenny Britt is going to miss a few weeks and the Titans just picked up a guy named Randy Moss. Percy Harvin seemed to look even better when Moss was on the field so maybe Moss will help the Titans receivers. Of the ones left, I’d go with Washington. He did just go for 117 yards and a touchdown last week. And that’s without having Moss for the other side having to double team him.

Darrius Heyward-Bey (WR, Raiders) – Jason Campbell is back at QB and threw for 310 yards against a good Seahawks defense. Heyward-Bey caught 5 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. The Raiders are looking pretty good these past few weeks and Heyward-Bey is a speedy receiver that can get open.

Brandon Tate (WR, Pats) – If your league gives points for return yardage, Tate is more worth a pickup. Otherwise, you’re just hoping to get lucky. He did just catch 3 passes for 101 yards and a touchdown but it’s for the Patriots. You never know who Brady is going to throw to and it seems like a different receiver has a nice game each week.

Steve Breaston (WR, Cardinals) – He was surely drafted in your league but if he was dropped by someone after he was injured, you might look at him. He had 8 catches for 147 yards last week but the Cardinals are not exactly passing the ball very well. They are making Larry Fitzgerald look like a bust in fantasy football and I don’t think even they know who they want to start each week. Derek Anderson is back at QB and while he knows how to throw the interception, he can rack up some yards now and then. With him at QB, at least the receivers have some chance to get a few points for you.

Jacob Tamme (TE, Colts) – With Dallas Clark out for the year, Tamme takes over as Peyton Manning’s tight end. I thought Manning would just throw more to his receivers but Tamme got 9 targets and caught 6 for 64 yards and a touchdown. You know Manning will be throwing and maybe he just makes anyone look good. If so, pick up Tamme and hope for more.

Sidney Rice (WR, Vikings) – He is cleared to practice but won’t play this week. With Moss gone in MIN, Rice will have a chance to jump back in. He’ll need to get back into shape but if he plays anywhere near like he did last year, he’s worth a shot if you have the open space.

It will be interesting to see how Randy Moss fits in with the Titans. I don’t think Jeff Fisher puts up with much so I’m sure Moss will be on a short leash. Hopefully he likes the food better in Tennessee.
