There were only a few close games last week as most games were decided by multiple scores. I even got excited about the Bengals for the first half. And then the second half happened. I really should have known better. The only good news from that game is that I have Steve Johnson on a few teams and he….went….off. If that guy is available in your league, just pick him up. All he’s done for me is score points since I picked him up several weeks ago.
One game even had a comedic moment. The Steelers were up and Roethlisberger threw a touchdown. He then decided to run up and say something to Richard Seymour. First of all, you’re up so there’s no need to run your mouth. And secondly, Seymour is a huge man. So Seymour just turns and open hand jacks Big Ben. Now, I don’t condone hitting people and I won’t say that Big Ben deserved it but maybe he did. Just a little. People aren’t always going to just take your trash talk, sometimes they lose it. I’m just saying that I’d keep my mouth shut and not offend a man of his size. But then again, judging from Ben’s past, he doesn’t appear to hate unwanted touching so maybe he shouldn’t really be upset here.
Enough about someone’s alleged (multiple times, just saying) criminal past. Now that the bye weeks are over, there’s just not much need to search the waiver wire unless one of your guys gets hurt or someone is on a hot streak and you want to take advantage of it. Because of this, I couldn’t find many new names to mention so you’re going to see several repeats. I’m surprised that I’m seeing the repeated guys available in a lot of leagues. Surely they’ve been playing better than somebody on your roster. Unless you’re in a smaller league where everyone on your team is a superstar.
Nate Burleson (WR, Lions) – All you really need to know is that the Lions are passing, passing, passing the ball. There’s plenty to go around and Calvin Johnson and Nate Burleson are both reaping the benefits. Nate just had 7 catches for 97 yards and a touchdown. They play the Pats this week and the Lions will surely be playing from behind yet again so look for more passes.
Nate Washington (WR, Titans) – Kenny Britt is still out and Randy Moss is doing NOTHING. The Titans have lost Kerry Collins and now Vince Young so they have Rusty Smith starting. Who? Yeah, I don’t know either but he did show that he’s not afraid to pass. Washington had 5 catches for 117 yards and if Moss continues to disappear, Washington is about all that’s left for the Titans.
Joel Dreessen (TE, Texans) – Owen Daniels is hurt and it looks like he might be that way for awhile. Dreessen hasn’t looked bad and just had 106 yards and a touchdown. And he plays against a few soft defenses against tight ends in the next few weeks.
Keiland Williams (RB, Redskins) – Clinton Portis came back last week but got hurt again and may be done for the year. It doesn’t look like Torain will be back so Williams could be the starter this week. He had 68 yards rushing but also caught 6 passes for 27 yards. If he continues to catch several passes, he’s worth more of a look in PPR leagues.
Mike Goodson (RB, Panthers) – Goodson has gone over 100 yards rushing in two straight games. DeAngelo Williams is done for the year and Jonathan Stewart may still be banged up. Even if he comes back, he doesn’t have 100 yards rushing in a game so far so I think Goodson will continue to get the starts. The Panthers passing attack is just terrible so the running game is all they have.
Shaun Hill (QB, Lions) – This guy is throwing the ball about 50 times every week. And he has decent guys to throw to. The Lions are always playing from behind so they’ll keep throwing. He’s putting up some big numbers at the QB position but he’s still on the waiver wire in many leagues.
Maurice Morris (QB, Lions) – Jahvid Best is out this week so Morris will be the starter. He’s been able to have some decent games in the past when he’s started. And he can catch passes out of the backfield so he helps in PPR leagues.
Blair White (WR, Colts) – Colts receivers just keep going down. Austin Collie returned last week but left the game. No one really knows why so he may or may not play this week. White came in and caught 5 catches for 42 yards. That doesn’t sound like much but two of those catches were for touchdowns. We know the Colts will pass. Reggie Wayne has been there and Garcon has been on and off so White has a chance to see more passes coming his way.
Mike Thomas (WR, Jaguars) – The Jags will pass and Mike Sims-Walker is still suffering from gimpy ankle syndrome. Thomas is their number one receiver right now and he has the most catches and yards for the season. He also has a touchdown in the last three games so he should continue to produce.
Kevin Boss (TE, Giants) – The Giants keep losing receivers and they’re scrambling to sign someone. Boss should see more passes his way since there aren’t many other options right now. And they play the Jaguars this week, who give up a lot of points to tight ends.
So that’s it for this week. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and stuffs themselves with good food. Enjoy the football too. Maybe the Bengals will actually play a full game and give me a Thanksgiving present. I don’t want the first pick in the draft. They sign for way too much money and usually it’s too hard to figure out who’s worth that big money. Also, they never seem to draft the players I want to see anyway.
