Bloomington, IN. On this last day of the year 2010, Big Ten Basketball was in full battle. Visiting Assembly Hall was the top seeded and #2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Ohio State who was undefeated at 13-0, and sitting atop the Big Ten standings, came to Bloomington to make a statement. Ohio State opened up with leads as high as 13 points in the first half. Ohio State lead by William Buford and James Sullinger guided the Buckeyes to a 46-33 halftime lead.
The Buckeyes came out shooting from the outside, and connected on a high percentage of their 3 point shots. The Buckeyes were on target making 13 of 19 from behind the 3 point arc. Shooting over 60% from the field, and 68% from behind the 3 point stripe. The Buckeyes put on a dominating performance over the up, and coming Indiana Hoosiers. Man handling the Hoosiers from inside, and out. This Buckeye team has accomplished something none other before has? They have won 3 in a row in Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana. This dating back to the 70′s.
Indiana coach Tom Crean was impressed by the dominating Buckeyes. Crean saying after the game “That’s the way basketball is supposed to be played. They beat you on the pass more than they beat you on anything else”. “They’re such a dominant team, and they’re so good at so many positions that you can’t let guy’s do things they normally do, and we let Buford get hot early, and it killed us.”
The Hoosiers came out of the locker room in a zone defense trying to slow the powerful, and talented Buckeyes down. The Buckeyes played a near perfect first half of basketball. Leading the way for the Buckeyes in the first half was Sullinger on the inside, and Buford from the perimeter. The Buckeyes shot 15 for 21 from the field, and 7 of 10 from behind the 3 point stripe, and 9 of 11 from the charity stripe. Almost perfection.
Carrying the Hoosiers was Christian Watford with 17 points, and 3 rebounds. Two other Hoosiers finished the game in double figures, Victor Oladipo with 14 points, and Jordan Hulls added 12. The Buckeyes put on a clinic for all basketball fans to admire. Ohio State is by far one of the best, and by far, one of the most talented college basketball teams in the nation this year. The Buckeyes finished the game with 4 players in double figures. William Buford lead the way for the #2 ranked Buckeyes with 24 points, and 4 rebounds. Diebler finished with 15 points, and 1 board. All his points from 3′s.
The Hoosiers are 0-2 in the Big Ten, and 9-6 overall. Ohio State, 14-0, and sitting just behind Purdue at 2-0 Big Ten, and 13-1 overall.
