If the Republican Party was unsure where to find the key to the White House in the 2012 Presidential election they need look no more. Yes, Republicans you have been given the key to the White House with the recent decision not to defend the Defense of Marriage Act also known as DOMA. The question is do you have a candidate whose arm is long enough to take that key.
My belief is that there are more heterosexuals, Christians, and Muslims in our electorate than homosexuals. If there is not then the procreation of our civilization is doomed. Given that the composition of the electorate is as I proclaim then Republicans, you have the gift horse to ride in and reclaim the Executive Branch in 2012.
While the Republican Party has the gift horse to ride in and reclaim the Executive Branch in 2012, the unanswered question is are there any qualified candidates to ride that horse. Riding a horse looks easy but it is a dangerous task. To be brutally honest none of the currently presumed candidates are capable of riding that horse. None of the listed candidates are preferable to the expected opposition, unless something drastic happens, like a faux pas, between now and then.
In addition, the behavior of the candidates who were defeated in the 2008 election has most of us disenchanted with their candidacy. Frankly, the Republican candidates from the 2008 Primary and General election have conducted themselves for lack of a better word, deplorably.
The Presidential election of 2008 is the longest in Modern Times. In fact, given the daily bashing of the current President, the 2008 Election will continue into 2012 and probably 2016 if he gets re-elected and that from my perspective is a big IF. The daily bashing also sends a negative message to the rest of the world. Those conducting the daily bashing are merely expressing their subconscious bias and delusion of capability or superiority. This is unfortunate especially when on paper the President’s academic performance is superior to his critics. Any notion that his predecessor was more qualified for the office is an exhibition of delusion if not stark raving madness.
The Republican candidates in the 2008 Presidential election are still running for the office even though the contest concluded more than two (2) years ago. That is shameful. When will they concede defeat? The American people voted, selected, and inaugurated their President but the Republican candidates are still competing for the office. If my fellow Americans felt, the Republican candidate’s ideas for the nation were the best they would have voted for one and maybe all of them. End the 2008 Presidential election and let us move on. The sky is gray given the unemployment rate of 10 percent and the fish in the sea as well as “we the people” are endangered species.
The bottom line is that even with this gift horse the Republican Party needs a new candidate. A candidate that is capable of regenerating some luster to the face of the party. Perhaps, they could try to draft the most prominent female from the Democratic Party. She might be available if they can make an offer she cannot refuse, of course now I cannot fathom what that offer would look like.
However, my assumption is that such a draft effort will fail. Here is a hint for Republicans. Why not approach Jodi Rell or another qualified female who has contributed significantly to the party. No, I am not even remotely thinking about the former Governor of Alaska. Frankly if the Republican Party wishes to lose the Presidential Election of 2012 then they can make the former Governor of Alaska their candidate. At the risk of sounding prophetic if she is on that ticket, the Republicans can mail the defeat in, regardless of what the contributors of FOX News think.
Having said all that, Republicans, you have a gift horse of an issue to run on. Can you perceive it? Can you take advantage of the prize? Do you have a candidate capable of regenerating some luster to the face of the party? Do you have a candidate who can ride a winning horse? Do you have a candidate whose arm is long enough to take the key?
