2011 NFL Lockout In Full Effect After Failed Negotiations

This just in. The NFL can’t seem to solve it’s money problems between the players union and the owners after the owners refused to completely open the books for the Players Association and the Players Association refused to settle for a half a billion dollars offered by the owners. The lockout could last for several games into the 2011 NFL season and may put a dent into our economy as a result. This will affect many lives, and I’m sure bartenders across the country can’t wait for their chance to play in the league. A much slower league if you could imagine a league of previously unsigned players. Only time will tell and I bet Indianapolis is sweating bullets right now as the city is set to host the 2011 Superbowl. Imagine the revenue lost from that kind of investment.

The owners came to the union with an offer to split the last billion in half for a settlement and the players union basically already had it in their minds that they were going to decertify and drop out of the bargaining and take it to litigation. The owners are mad that the players union didn’t give in a little more to the meetings the last week.

As a result, the NFL Players Union filed suit against the NFL and now the players can sue the NFL for what is rightfully theirs.  In my Dr. Evil voice, “One Billion Dollars”! It has been reported that both Drew Brees and Peyton Manning have already filed antitrust suits, with many more to follow suit…

Always on the grind…
