Well America, it’s that time of year again. March 17th is upon us and its time to call in to work, find a babysitter, gather up with the friends, throw on the green attire, and put back some beers and shots. St. Patrick’s day has been celebrated since the early 17th century as it started out as a Catholic holiday it has progressed into a full out celebration, and every year it seems to gain a bigger crowd in every town. St. Patrick’s Day is an actual public holiday in The Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Newfoundland, and Labrador. Every year since 1991 America has proclaimed March as being Irish-American heritage month by the US Congress. Bars and restaurants open early, all decorated in green, waiving the Ireland flag, and passing out green colored shots. There is a famous sign put up at the Guinness Beer Storehouse that says, “Everyone’s Irish on March 17th.” American culture has taken St. Patrick’s day traditions and turned them into a full out party all day and night and some even continue celebrating this holiday through the weekend. Most big cities such as New York City, Dallas Texas, Seattle Washington, and Chicago Illinois, hold parades as the mornings celebration that leads to the partying at night. St. Patrick’s Day is the only holiday celebrated in America that is mainly focused around drinking alcohol and partying, as well as getting to celebrate our culture, what a great holiday! Dr. Hustle wanted to put a shout-out to all you the crazy Irish diaspora in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Oakland, California and wants to wish everyone a safe and drunk St. Patrick’s Day 2011.
