Dave Matthews Band Caravan…It’s like Vultron
Picture this…A warm day breezy day, the beautiful Chicago skyline in view, the smell of good food, a good cold beer in hand, and in the air the sound of summer. The Dave Matthews Band are bringing there good time summery jams to four different venues this year, and they are bringing guests. The band has been touring every year for the past twenty years. They decided to take a break from the traditional tour, and form a festival of greatness.
The DMB Caravan consists of an eclectic group of artists, with rappers and jam bands, but as as eclectic as the group is, they all come together and form something awesome like a a good bowl of chili or Vultron. The venues for these shows are in good cities. Atlantic City, Chicago, New York City, and the Gorge in Washington state, the ladder is a favorite venue of The Dave Matthews Band and will take place over Labor Day weekend.
The idea of a band having it’s own festival is pretty cool. Even if you do not like DMB there is something for everyone. The price is fair for the three day event. General admission is $195 for all three days or $85 for one day. Pretty good deal considering the opening acts are big time bands like The Roots, and the flaming Lips. It was $85 for just a Dave show last year.
Dave Matthews Band will be headlining every show. What is cool about this festival is that members of the Dave Matthews Band are friends with a lot of these artists, so there will be many collaborations it will be pretty cool to see Dave with Kid Cudi or the Roots. There will plenty of pretty ladies for the guys, and some dudes for the ladies. This will be the event of the summer.
The shows in Chicago will feature a special Summer Camp Saturday, where all the bands from Summer Camp another festival in Illinois will take the stage. Two festivals in one…What? Many people say they hate The Dave Matthews Band, but secretly love them, many people do hate them, and MANY love them. Whatever the situation, there is something for everyone.
The Atlantic City show is June 24-26 at Bader Field, and will feature The Flaming Lips, David Gray, O.A.R., and Ray Lamontagne. Chicago will have those artists, and Kid Cudi, the aforementioned Summer Camp Saturday, and Many others. Chicago is July 8-10 at Lakeside, which has an immaculate view of the city. New York is August 26-28 at Governors Island and has the Roots and Dispatch. Finally the Gorge is Labor day weekend, and has the Roots and The John Butler Trio. This is going to be a great Summer!
